GALVESTON – Claiming he suffered a seizure after a stint working offshore, Louisiana resident Chad DeRouen has filed a lawsuit.

DeRouen’s suit, filed on Dec. 8 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas, asserts the seizure resulted from infections or exposures the plaintiff sustained while working on a number of platforms belong to Fieldwood Energy LLC during a six-week period late last year.

DeRouen was employed as a Senior Valve Technician for Louisiana Safety Systems.

“On or about December 11, 2016, having just returned to shore from a 6 week hitch on a number of Fieldwood’s offshore platforms, Plaintiff suffered a severe and debilitating seizure, specifically, a right frontal lesion which required a craniotomy,” recent court documents explain.

The suit further states that DeRouen did nothing to bring forth the injuries for which he sues.

A jury trial is requested.

Attorney Marcus R. Spagnoletti of the law firm Spagnoletti & Co. in Houston is representing the complainant.
