Fatal West TX wreck subject of lawsuit

Car accident 18

HOUSTON – A lawsuit has been filed as a result of a fatal 2016 multi-vehicle accident along a stretch of I-10 in West Texas.

Recent Harris County District Court records show that Ernesto Castillo initiated legal action on behalf of one of the victims, Nora Castillo, and as next friend of Idolina Castillo against Hardway Trucking, LLC; TBG Companies, LLC; Centennial Enterprises, Inc., doing business as Centennial Trucking; Minnesota resident Todd Carl Saari; and the estate of Jessica Renee Marciano in the Harris County 234th District Court on Dec. 14.

According to the suit, Nora Castillo, 42, was a passenger in a 2014 Volkswagon Jetta traveling on I-10 West in Crockett County last Apr. 8 when Saari, who was operating a Kenworth tractor-trailer for Hardway and TBG, crossed the median and veered into oncoming traffic. The tractor-trailer purportedly struck the Jetta head-on, and the collision inflicted fatal injuries on Nora Castillo and two other women.

The suit alleges Saari struck a disabled vehicle driven by Marciano prior to the subject wreck.

Saari’s employers are accused of negligent hiring, training, supervision, and retention of Saari while the driver is faulted for failing to properly operate the tractor-trailer and observe traffic rules and regulations.

Consequently, unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial are sought.

Attorney Bryan K. Harris of the law firm Bryan K. Harris, P.C. in Corpus Christi is representing the Castillos.
