SHERMAN – A McKinney woman alleges she was subjected to retaliation and harassment while working for a Denton County office because of her race and color and was denied promotions.

Nadiya Williams-Boldware filed a complaint on Dec. 15 in the Sherman District of the Eastern District of Texas against Denton County alleging violation of the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is African-American, is employed by Denton County Criminal District Attorney Paul Johnson and began her employment with the defendant in February 2007. She alleges that despite being qualified for lead misdemeanor prosecutor position since 2012, she was passed over for several times for the job.

The plaintiff holds Denton County responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected her to adverse employment actions, unwelcome harassment and discrimination based on her race and color and retaliated against her for opposing discriminatory practices.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual, compensatory, consequential and special damages, attorneys’ fees and costs and all other and further relief. She is represented by Chris Raesz of Cris Raesz PC in Denton.
