GALVESTON – A Montgomery County man alleges he was injured by a wire while working on barges and that his employer has failed to provide maintenance and cure benefits.
Robert McCoun filed a complaint on Dec. 18, 2017, in the Galveston County District Court against Marquette Transportation Co. and Marquette Transportation Co. Gulf-Inland alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 12, 2017, he was working on barges attached to the defendants' marine vessel Corpus Christi and was injured by the barge's face wires. He alleges he suffered great pain in the left knee and ankle, a split fibula, injured tendons, and other injuries and has been unable to walk on his own since the incident.
The plaintiff holds Marquette Transportation Co. and Marquette Transportation Co. Gulf-Inland responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to keep the barges in a manner that the wire would maintain its position and not to injure him and breached their duties to provide cure and maintenance benefits.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest costs of court and such other general and special relief. He is represented by Alan Kolodny of Kolodny Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
