Individual alleges BBVA Compass Bancshares loan officer defaulted on loan

Late 07

GALVESTON – A Galveston County man alleges that he was not repaid for a $10,000 loan.

Suchmor Thomas filed a complaint on Dec. 18, 2017, in the Galveston County District Court against BBVA Compass Bancshares Inc. and Matthew Foster Maxwell alleging breach of contract and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 15, 2015, Maxwell, who is a loan officer for BBVA Compass, required a loan from the plaintiff in order for him to process business loans for the plaintiff. The plaintiff alleges Maxwell defaulted on his promise to repay the plaintiff for the loan in November 2015.

The plaintiff holds BBVA Compass Bancshares Inc. and Maxwell responsible because the defendants allegedly breached the terms of their agreement by refusing to repay the loan.

The plaintiff seeks actual damages in the amount of $10,000, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorneys' fees, court costs and such further and additional relief. He is represented by Delia C. Rivera and Morgan R. Gullatt of Markle DeLaCruz LLP in Houston.
