Former Academy Sports & Outdoors employee alleges he is owed unpaid overtime wages

SHERMAN – A Georgia man alleges his former sports and outdoor equipment retailer employer failed to pay him overtime wages during his employment.

Allan Lasley filed a complaint on behalf of individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated filed a complaint on Dec. 29, 2017, in the Sherman District of the Eastern District of Texas against Academy LTD, doing business as Academy Sports & Outdoors, alleging that the retail store operator violated the wage and hour provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant as an assistant manager from September 2010 to September 2016 at various locations in Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina. He alleges that he regularly worked in excess of 40 hours per workweek but was not paid overtime wages for extra hours he worked.

The plaintiff holds Academy LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep accurate records and by failing to pay him overtime wages.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order allowing plaintiff to give notice of this collective action to the FLSA collective members, award for unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorneys’ fees and cost and such other just and proper relief.
