HOUSTON – A landlord alleges damages to his Houston property by a former tenant cost him more than $8,000 to remediate.
Ryan Daws filed a complaint on Jan. 3 in the Harris County District Court against Samer S. Ali alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 26, 2014, he entered into a lease agreement whereby defendant would lease the plaintiff's property at 1907 Huntress Lane in Houston. The suit states the lease was terminated in August 2017.
The plaintiff alleges when he regained possession of the property, it was unsuitable for re-leasing because of smoke odors, damages caused by pet urine and unauthorized modifications by the defendant.
The plaintiff holds Ali responsible because the defendant allegedly made numerous alterations to the property without authorization, failed to pay late fees and failed to perform his obligations under the lease.
The plaintiff seeks damages in the amount of $8,455.95, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and such other and further relief. He is represented by Michael J. Treece, Vivian Tomlinson and Philip T. Segura of Treece Law Firm in Houston.
