Harris County couple seeks more than $1 million from doctor over allegations procedure failed

HOUSTON – A Harris County couple alleges that a vasectomy performed by a Houston doctor failed and is seeking more than $1 million in damages.

Paul Singleton and Latreece Singleton filed a complaint on Jan. 8 in the Harris County District Court against Kelsey-Seybold Medical Group LLC and Dr. Robert Renner alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Jan. 4, 2016, plaintiff Paul Singleton underwent a vasectomy procedure performed by defendants to avoid further pregnancies. The suit states the plaintiffs were informed by the defendants they could stop using contraception in March 2016.

On Aug. 1, 2017, plaintiff LaTreece Singleton found out that she was pregnant with their fourth child, the suit states.

The plaintiffs holds Kelsey-Seybold Medical Group LLC and Renner responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly perform the medical treatment necessary and failed to adequately assess, monitor and treat the condition.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other just and proper relief. They are represented by Blair H. Burnside of Anderson Burnside PLLC in Houston.
