GALVESTON – A Harris County man alleges he was injured while lifting steel valves on a vessel because a lifting device was not available.

Lamar Williams filed a complaint on Jan. 8 in the Galveston County District Court against CM Inland Marine LLC alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 11, 2015, he sustained serious injuries while lifting and unloading steel valves on defendant's Carol M vessel. He alleges he sustained severe injury to his back that required immediate medical attention.

The plaintiff holds CM Inland Marine LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly train and advise him on the correct and safe method to lift the steel pipes and failed to provide equipment necessary to complete tasks.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other general and special relief. He is represented by James C. Ferrell of James C. Ferrell PC in Houston.
