HOUSTON – A former cashier for a limited liability company alleges he was paid the same rate regardless of the number of hours he worked in a week.
Sukhpreet Jalli, also known as Prince Jalli, filed a complaint on Jan. 11 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Saba Rizwan Enterprise LLC alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that throughout his employment with defendant from April 2017 to Oct. 1, 2017, as a cashier, he regularly worked more than 40 hours a week but was not paid the overtime premium rate.
The plaintiff holds Saba Rizwan Enterprise LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly paid him the same hourly rate for all hours he worked regardless of how many hours he worked in a week.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to recover unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, costs, attorney’s fees and such other just and equitable relief. He is represented by Josef F. Buenker and Thomas H. Padgett Jr. of The Buenker Law Firm in Houston.
