Seaman seeks more than $1 million from Harley Marine Gulf over alleged injuries

Tugboat 01

HOUSTON – A Louisiana seaman alleges he was injured while working aboard a Harris County company's vessel.

Roy McGraw Jr. filed a complaint on Jan. 24 in the Harris County District Court against Harley Marine Gulf LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 26, 2017, he was injured while working in the course and scope of his employment aboard defendant's Stardust tug vessel. He alleges he sustained injuries to his back and other parts of his body that caused him to suffer serious physical and emotional injuries for which he will likely never recover.

The plaintiff holds Harley Marine Gulf LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly train and supervise its employees, failed to provide adequate safety equipment and failed to provide maintenance and cure benefits.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other relief to which he may show himself justly entitled. He is represented by Jason A. Itkin, Noah M. Wexler, Ben Bireley and Rebecca Adams of Arnold and Itkin LLP in Hosuton.
