Continuance sought in med-mal against Christus

Medical malpractice 02

BEAUMONT — A continuance is being sought in a suit brought by a Jefferson County widow against Beaumont health care providers, which alleges their negligence caused the death of her husband.

Jessica Morris filed a lawsuit March 14, 2016 in Jefferson County District Court against Christus Hospital - St. Elizabeth, Dr. Frank J. Fasullo Jr. and Reliant Physicians of Southeast Texas PLLC, alleging medical malpractice in failing to exercise proper care for the plaintiff's husband and violating the Wrongful Death Act.

Court records show an agreed motion for continuance was filed in the case.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 31, 2013, Morris lost her husband, Lawrence Morris, as a result of negligence by the medical staff that were taking care of him at Christus Hospital - St. Elizabeth.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly treat Lawrence Morris despite having knowledge he was a dialysis patient and would need extra care when administering certain drugs.

Jessica Morris seeks a trial by jury, $250,000 in damages, interest, legal fees and any other relief the court deems just.

She is represented by attorneys Craig Lewis and Heather E. Hall of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
