HOUSTON – A Harris County man claims a trucking company fired him because of his race.
Travis Richardson’s lawsuit against 2-Men Houston, L.L.C., doing business as Two Men and a Truck, explains that Richardson, who is black, experienced numerous instances of racial discrimination after he received a new supervisor.
Recent court documents filed on Feb. 2 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas assert the supervisor, Donald Davis, caused race relations to deteriorate, stating he deliberately segregated the black and white drivers.
Richardson adds Davis used the word “n****r,” and “openly supervised, scrutinized and disciplined his staff based on their race.”
The supervisor, who is not a party in the case, reportedly allowed a Caucasian driver to remain employed though the latter violated the defendant’s rules and regulations.
Richardson recalls Davis trying to get him to take a load to Arkansas because the driver, whom court papers identify as “Dallas,” blatantly ignored management instructions while on a drive in California.
According to the suit, the complainant declined the assignment because he did not receive sufficient notice.
Two Men terminated Richardson on May 29, 2016, to which the original petition says was done given his race.
The plaintiff further alleges he and his family were subjected to racially-tinged terroristic threats afterwards.
Consequently, he seeks unspecified monetary damages.
