Ross Dress for Less shopper alleges hanger on floor caused fall

HOUSTON – A Harris County woman alleges she was injured in a Houston store because of a hanger on the floor.

Claudette Matthews filed a complaint on Feb. 6 in the Harris County District Court against Ross Dress for Less Inc. citing premises liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during the unspecified time that she was at defendant's Ross Dress for Less store at 10261 North Freeway in Houston, she was seriously injured when she slipped and fell on a hanger that was left on the floor.

She alleges she was caused to suffer personal injuries, anxiety, pain and suffering, mental anguish and lost earnings.

The plaintiff holds Ross Dress for Less Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a safe means of ingress and egress and failed to inspect the premises and make the dangerous condition safe.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but no more than $1 million and such other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by Paul A. Higdon of Higdon Lawyers in Houston.
