HOUSTON – A Houston consumer alleges a Minnesota-based debt collector has harassed her with phone calls.
Deidra Jenkins filed a complaint on Feb. 9 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against I.C. System Inc. alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Texas Debt Collection Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in October 2017, she began receiving calls from the defendant attempting to collect an alleged debt. As a result of defendant's repeated or continuous telephone calls, she alleges she was oppressed, harassed and abused.
The plaintiff holds I.C. System Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly continued to place collection calls to her telephone despite her request to stop calling her.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000, costs, attorneys’ fees and disbursements and any other relief that are appropriate. She is represented by Michael S. Agruss of Agruss Law Firm LLC in Chicago, Illinois.
