HOUSTON – An altercation in the parking lot of an East Houston fast food restaurant which claimed the life of a male customer more than a year ago is the subject of a Houston woman’s wrongful death lawsuit.

Maria Alvarado accuses Jack in the Box, Inc. of failing to prevent the event in question at its eatery at 1395 Federal Rd. on the night of Oct. 9, 2016, suing on behalf of the estate of Miguel Angel Cid.

Court papers filed on Feb. 12 in the Harris County 190th District Court state that Cid was patronizing the business when two groups of people got into a confrontation.

The fight purportedly escalated into an exchange of gunfire. Cid was mortally wounded from two gunshots to the chest, the suit says.

Alvarado faults Jack in the Box for failing to take necessary safety precautions, asserting the restaurant was aware the surrounding area is crime-infested.

Consequently, she seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

Carl W. Morgan of The Gordon Law Firm in Houston is representing the plaintiff.
