HOUSTON – Two welders allege they were injured last year in an explosion at a Louisiana natural gas gathering and processing plant and have pursued legal action.

Theodore Kapsos and Steve Lal filed a lawsuit against Targa Resources Corp., Targa Resources Partners LP, and Venice Energy Services Co., L.L.C. in the Harris County 129th District Court on Feb. 14.

The men assert the defendants own the facility where the event in question occurred, stating they were “blown backward” from the scaffolding they used to work on a pipeline.

“Machinery, tools, debris, and fuel rained down upon the defenseless plaintiffs,” according to the original petition.

It faults the respondents for failing to provide Kapsos and Lal a safe work environment.

Consequently, the complainants seek unspecified monetary damages.

They are represented by Marcus R. Spagnoletti and Eric J. Rhine of the law firm Spagnoletti & Co. in Houston.
