Pedestrian files suit against Spring ISD, driver after being struck after exiting bus

HOUSTON – A Harris County man alleges he was struck by a driver after exiting a school bus.

Jared Bush filed a complaint on Feb. 15 in the Harris County District Court against Spring Independent School District and Claudia Galvan alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 7, 2016, he was exiting the Spring ISD's bus and was injured when he was struck by defendant Galvan's vehicle, who carelessly attempted to pass the stopped bus.

He alleges he suffered serious physical injuries that resulted in medical care expenses, pain and suffering, disfigurement, loss of earnings and mental anguish.

The plaintiff holds Spring ISD and Galvan responsible because defendant Spring ISD's employee allegedly failed to activate or properly operate the bus's stop lights and negligently stopped the bus in an unsafe place to unload passengers and Galvan negligently drove her vehicle while distracted.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by Joseph C. Melugin of Melugin Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
