Former employee files age discrimination suit against Baker Hughes

Wrongful term 10

HOUSTON – An Austin man alleges his age was a factor in his termination from his Houston employer.

Brian Keith Phipps filed a complaint on Feb. 15 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Baker Hughes Inc. alleging violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began his employment with the defendant in 2012 at the age of 55. The suit states he was terminated April 24, 2017, for allegedly not meeting his personal improvement plan.

The plaintiff holds Brian Hughes Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly discharged him because of his age and replaced him with a much-younger employee younger than 40.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks back pay, future pay from the date of termination until his 70th birthday, compensatory and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney’s fees, costs and all other lawful and equitable relief. He is represented by Gary Robin Maze of Maze IP Law PC in Friendswood and Owen S Jones of Law Offices of Owen Jones in Friendswood.
