BEAUMONT - A Lumberton woman who sued a Beaumont moving company and one of its drivers for injuries she allegedly sustained in a vehicle collision settled before her case could go to trial.
Tisha Hampshire filed a lawsuit Sept. 28, 2015, in Jefferson County District Court against Southeast Texas Portable Moving and Storage, and Joaquin Jose Devarona of Sour Lake, alleging negligence.
According to the lawsuit, on July 14, 2014, Hampshire was a passenger in a 1999 GMC Sierra K1500 driven by Dillon Gardiner, when Devarona, driving a vehicle owned by Southeast Texas Portable Moving and Storage, collided with Hampshire's vehicle.
The case was called up for trial on March 5. However, according to a courthouse official, the suit settled before a jury could be selected.
Hampshire sought monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, plus interests and court costs.
