Electronics technician slips on vessel's walkway, sues employers

Slip01

HOUSTON – An electronics technician has brought a slip and fall lawsuit against his employers, per recent Harris County District Court records.

In Edinburg resident Edgar Gallegos’s suit targeting ESCO Inc. and Pride International, Inc., the plaintiff says he sustained injuries while working on the defendants’ ENSCO DS-8 towing vessel last Sept. 28.

Gallegos allegedly slipped on a walkway slicked with residual chemicals and fell on his buttocks and left hand.

The incident left him with injuries with “serious and debilitating” injuries to several parts of his body, including but not limited to his back and neck, the original petition says.

The respondents are faulted for failing to properly inspect and maintain the vessel’s walkways.

Consequently, Gallegos seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Matthew D. Shaffer of the law firm Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer, & Harris, L.L.P. in Houston.
