Motorist seeks $200,000 from Houston over collision with officer

Car accident 37

HOUSTON – A motorist alleges a Houston officer failed to yield at stop sign and caused a collision.

Steven Dinh filed a complaint on March 7 in the Harris County District Court against the city of Houston alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 15, 2016, he suffered injuries and damages when defendant's employee, Officer Vaibhavi Patel, negligently failed to yield to the right of way at a stop sign and struck the plaintiff. He alleges he sustained significant injuries that resulted in lost wages and other damages.

The plaintiff holds city of Houston responsible because Patel allegedly failed to keep proper lookout and failed to exercise ordinary prudence while driving.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other equitable and lawful relief. He is represented by Joshua P. Davis and Katherine Ray of Davis Law Group in Houston.
