GALVESTON – A Galveston County man claims he unknowingly purchased a home rife with water damage.

According to a lawsuit filed on Mar. 8 in the Galveston County 122nd District Court, Paul McConnell bought the house from Galvestonians Ted Shook and Al Fichera in March 2015.

McConnell says the home had “severe, pre-existing water damage that was concealed and not disclosed” to him, asserting he did not discover the problem “for more than a year after the sale.”

The property also has a “severe, pervasive” mold infestation, recent court papers state.

The suit accuses Shook and Fichera of deceiving the plaintiff throughout the course of the transaction.

Consequently, McConnell seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Dax O. Faubus and Michael T. Lewis of The Faubus Firm in Houston.
