HOUSTON – A Henderson County man alleges he lost his job with a bank because he underwent treatment for a serious mood disorder.

Gun Barrel City resident William Jackson brought a lawsuit against Prosperity Bancshares Inc. and his immediate supervisor, Eddie Lick, in Houston federal court on Mar. 8.

Jackson, who reportedly suffers from several depression, explains he sought medical attention for his condition in March 2016. He stayed in two hospitals and was admitted to an inpatient rehabilitation center, the suit says.

According to recent court papers, Jackson attempted several times to contact the defendants in regards to his request for FMLA paperwork.

The respondents knew about Jackson’s disability and ongoing treatment, but terminated him in April 2016 for “job abandonment,” the original petition says.

Prosperity and Lick are accused of interfering with the plaintiff’s right to FMLA leave and retaliating against him.

Consequently, Jackson seeks unspecified monetary damages.

He is represented by David J. Manley of Cypress.
