HOUSTON – Harris County has filed a lawsuit after a sheriff’s deputy suffered injuries while responding to a 2016 CPS call.

Court documents list Channelview resident Robert D. Jones as the defendant, asserting the Sept. 1, 2016 incident occurred on his property.

The plaintiff explains that Deputy Arturo Resendez was accompanying a CPS worker while the worker was taking a small child at Jones’s residence.

Resendez purportedly tripped on the steps of the mobile home. Though he caught himself before hitting the ground, he injured his lower back, the original petition says.

Jones is faulted for not warning the deputy about the dangerous condition in question.

Consequently, the county seeks unspecified monetary damages.
