Law money 04

HOUSTON – A former receptionist for a Harris County health care facility alleges she was not paid the appropriate rate for overtime work.

Stephanie Meza filed a complaint on March 14 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against The Regional Neurodiagnostic Center PA and Vasishta M. Patel alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during one or more weeks of her employment with the defendants between August 2008 and Aug. 24, 2017, as a receptionist, she regularly worked 45 to 50 hours per workweek without receiving proper overtime compensation.

The plaintiff holds The Regional Neurodiagnostic Center PA and Patel responsible because the defendants allegedly regularly deducted time from her actual time worked even though they had knowledge of and approved of such work being performed and failed to compensate her at a rate of time-and-one-half of her regular pay rate for her overtime hours.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages for unpaid wages, liquidated damages, prejudgment interest, attorney’s fees and costs and such other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by Charles L. Scalise and Daniel B. Ross of Ross Law Group in Austin.
