Man alleges he was injured at Kiewitt Offshore facility because of loose railing

HOUSTON – A Mississippi resident alleges he was injured while working on a rig when railing came loose and caused him to fall.

Kenneth Cooley filed a complaint on March 14 in the Harris County District Court against Jamestown Metal Sales Inc., Deansteel Manufacturing Co. and Kiewitt Offshore Services LTD alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 27, 2017, he was injured in while working aboard a Hess rig named Stampede at defendant Kiewitt's facility in Ingleside. The suit states he was climbing a ladder and the railing came loose, causing him to fall.

He alleges he suffered severe and permanent injuries to his lower back and body, resulting in pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, lost wages and medical expenses. 

The plaintiff holds Jamestown Metal Sales Inc., Deansteel Manufacturing Co. and Kiewitt Offshore Services LTD responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to perform adequate inspection, failed to coordinate work activity aboard the rig and failed to provide adequate warning associated with the work.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million, punitive damages. interest, costs and all other just and equitable relief. He is represented by John W. Stevenson Jr. and Jeremy Newell of Stevenson & Murray in Houston.
