HOUSTON – A Harris County company is alleged to have failed to exercise a degree of care in the design of a home's foundation.
Blake Pratz filed a complaint on March 16 in the Harris County District Court against Insight Structures LLC alleging breach of contract and negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff and defendant entered into an agreement in July 2011 for the foundation of the plaintiff's new residence in Houston. The plaintiff alleges the defendant's engineering design contains errors and has caused damages, including extensive cracking in the slabs, malfunctioning doors, floor slopes and cracking of wall finishes.
The plaintiff holds Insight Structures LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly breached its duty to exercise the degree of care, skill and competence that a reasonable engineer would exercise under the same or similar circumstances.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other lawful and equitable relief. He is represented by John L. Grayson and C. Matthew Thompson of Cokinos | Young in Houston.
