Humble property owner alleges insurance agencies misrepresented coverage

Insurance 07

HOUSTON – The owner of a Humble property allege two insurance agencies failed to procure sufficient coverage for her property.

Maria Perez, doing business as Deerbrook Family Dentistry, filed a complaint on March 19 in the Harris County District Court against Suzanne Brown Agency LLC and Risk Placement Services Inc. alleging violation of the Texas Insurance Code.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that due to Hurricane Harvey in 2017, plaintiff's insured property was severely damaged. She alleges the defendants failed to advise or consult with her regarding her insurance needs and failed to procure coverage for her property.

The plaintiff holds Suzanne Brown Agency LLC and Risk Placement Services Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly misrepresented the adequacy of the coverage and failed to adequately insure plaintiff's property with respect to flood damage.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and exemplary damages, consequential damages and all other appropriate relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by Daniel P. Barton and Wayne D. Collins of Barton Law Firm in Houston.
