HOUSTON – Harris County resident Felipe Alicea is suing Goodwill Industries of Houston over injuries he reportedly sustained at its north Houston location last year.

Court papers filed on Mar. 27 in the Harris County 333rd District Court claim Alicea sat on a chair that attracted his interest at the defendant’s store located at 171 N. Sam Houston Parkway E. last Aug. 15 when the piece of furniture collapsed from underneath him without warning.

The plaintiff says he “violently” crashed down on the floor, asserting Goodwill did not provide visible warning signs pertaining to the chair.

Consequently, Alicea seeks unspecified monetary damages.

Ty A. Gibson and Brett M. Hill of the law firm Gibson Hill, P.C. in Houston are representing the complainant.
