Teacher alleges Cypress Fairbanks ISD wrongfully terminated him, seeks $1.5 million

Wrongful term 04

HOUSTON – A Houston teacher alleges his former school district employer violated his confidentiality and wrongfully terminated him.

Kevin James Whitfield filed a complaint on March 27 in the Harris County District Court against Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District alleging wrongful termination.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff and defendant executed a written continuing contract in April 2003 and that the plaintiff has never received a low performance evaluation or was placed on any disciplinary action.

The plaintiff holds Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District responsible because the defendant allegedly wrongfully terminated his employment without allowing him to go through a probationary process to retain employment, deleted his emails and violated his confidentiality.

The plaintiff seeks general damages of $1.5 million, relief in the amount of $413,145, attorney's fees, costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and such other relief to which he is entitled. He is representing himself.
