Asbestosis death result of employment with Texaco, suit alleges

BEAUMONT – An asbestos lawsuit has been brought against Chevron USA and Texaco.

Reba Norsworthy, as the surviving spouse of A.Q. Norsworthy, filed the suit March 19 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, Norsworthy was employed by Texaco in Jefferson County, where he used asbestos products and was exposed to asbestos dust and fibers.

As a result, he developed asbestosis and died on Oct. 12, 2016.

The suit alleges the defendants knew of the dangers of asbestos but failed to warn workers.

The plaintiff is suing for exemplary damages.

Provost Umphrey attorney Keith Hyde represents the plaintiff.

Judge Justin Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
