HOUSTON – A Houston contractor alleges a Santa Fe resident damaged its reputation with a review posted online.

M+A Construction Works LLC filed a complaint on April 10 in the Harris County District Court against Virginia Marie Murello alleging defamation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was contracted to design and construct a home for the defendant in 2006 and construction was completed in 2009. The suit states in a review posted in 2017 on online architecture and home improvement site Houzz, the defendant accused the plaintiff of showing up late for appointments, removing materials purchased without permission and double or triple billing for services.

The plaintiff holds Murello responsible because the defendant's statements allegedly are untrue and have caused damage to the plaintiff's business.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of $100,000 or less and such other lawful and equitable relief. It is represented by Arthur J. White III of Law Office of Arthur J. White III PC in Houston.
