Rinker's Boat World alleges former employee embezzled thousands

HOUSTON – A Harris County business alleges its former bookkeeper embezzled more than $381,000 during her employment.

Rinker's Boat World Inc. filed a complaint on April 13 in the Harris County District Court against Donna Gould citing the Texas Theft Liability Act, conversion and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant provided falsified W-2 and tax statements and improperly recorded commissions in the plaintiff's payroll system when she was not eligible to receive commissions. The plaintiff also states the defendant took cash collections and cashed improper checks.

The plaintiff holds Gould responsible because the defendant allegedly unlawfully appropriated money and made material and false representations to the plaintiff.

The plaintiff and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other general and special relief. It is represented by Murphy S. Klasing and Alexandra Ledyard of Weycer, Kaplan, Pulaski & Zuber PC in Houston.
