HOUSTON – Alleging he rented a vehicle with a faulty electrical system from Budget almost two years ago, local resident Reginald Harris has pursued legal action.

Harris filed a lawsuit against the car rental company on Apr. 18 in the Harris County 190th District Court, claiming the malfunction which befell the 2016 Lincoln MKX he operated on July 23, 2016 rendered him unable to open either the windows or doors.

The suit explains that the Houston area experienced sweltering heat at the time Harris drove the car to Richmond. He recalls being trapped inside the MKX, freeing himself, and waiting three hours for roadside assistance from the defendant.

Purportedly falling ill, the complainant called an ambulance.

According to the suit, the ordeal caused Harris to suffer atypical chest pain, acute on chronic renal failure, heatstroke, and accelerated hypertension.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Robert J. Binstock and Melissa Binstock Ephron of the law firm Reich & Binstock, LLP in Houston.
