Complainants in car accident case accuse counsel of abandoning 'all work'

HOUSTON – A local attorney faces a legal malpractice lawsuit from two women who hired him to represent them in car collision case, according to recent Harris County District Court records.

In court documents filed on Apr. 19 in the Harris County 165th District Court, Maritza Jimenez and Kathryn Martin accuse Ali Mokaram of abandoning “all work” in relation to their suit.

Jimenez and Martin explain that they eventually learned that Mokaram neglected his representation of them in order to tend to two criminal charges filed against him in Clark County, Nevada.

The defendant is reportedly not allowed to leave that particular jurisdiction.

“(Mokaram)” failed to inform the plaintiffs of his consuming and distracting legal problems at the Clark County Criminal Courthouse,” the suit says.

Mokaram was convicted of the charges in March 2017. Six months later, the complainants purportedly discovered that he took no action on their litigation since its inception.

The women claim the respondent still has possession of their client files.

Consequently, they seek unspecified monetary damages.

Kevin Hall of Houston is representing the plaintiffs.
