BEAUMONT – A woman alleges she was injured at a Beaumont health care facility when a chair she was sitting on collapsed.

Catherine Dupree-Kelly, formerly Catherine Dupree, filed a complaint on March 6 in the Jefferson County District Court against Beaumont Surgical Affiliates LTD alleging premises negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 27, 2016, she was an invitee to defendant's Beaumont premises when she fell to the floor after the chair she was sitting in collapsed. As a result, Dupree-Kelly claims she sustained serious bodily injuries, suffered physical pain and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Beaumont Surgical Affiliates LTD responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to inspect the premises, make reasonable repairs and warn of any dangerous conditions.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to recover judgment pursuant to the foregoing allegations in such amounts as the evidence may show and for such other and further relief, both general and special, statutory or common law, may be justly entitled. She is represented by M. Dru Montgomery of The Heartfield Law Firm in Beaumont.
