HOUSTON – A Texas seaman is suing his employer over injuries he allegedly sustained while moving heavy equipment, per recent Houston federal court records.

A lawsuit filed against Sea Drill Americas, Inc. on Apr. 20 says Phong Nguyen suffered the injuries in question while working aboard the Sevan Louisiana on Apr. 20, 2015.

The defendant reportedly owns 50.11% of the rig.

Court papers state that Nguyen was performing a tear down/BOP Upgrade or Blowout preventer when he “suffered pains to the left and right rotator cuffs and torn right bicep.”

“The plaintiff was forced to move heavy equipment without any assistance,” the original petition says.

Consequently, Nguyen seeks unspecified monetary damages.

He is represented by Todd E. Webb of The Law Office of Todd E. Webb in Houston.
