BEAUMONT – Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiary, Ethicon, have been hit with a vaginal mesh lawsuit.
Seeking compensatory damages, Bernedetta Hardaway filed suit against the companies on April 17 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, Hardaway was implanted with Ethicon’s pelvic mesh product and subsequently developed injuries.
The device is used by women with pelvic organ prolapse and/or stress urinary incontinence.
The suit alleges Ethicon knew of the dangers associated with the product but downplayed warnings and is liable for designing and marketing a defective product.
Hardaway is represented by Alex Barlow, attorney for the Houston law firm Robins Cloud.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
