Guest at Houston hotel alleges fall was caused by lettuce on floor

Slip01

HOUSTON – A California man alleges food on the floor of a Houston hotel caused him to fall.

William Anthony Packard filed a complaint on April 17 in the Harris County District Court against American Liberty Hospitality Inc. alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 14, 2016, was an invitee at a private dinner at defendant's Embassy Suites by Hilton Houston Downtown and was severely injured when he slipped and fell while walking to the banquet room because of lettuce leaves on the floor. He alleges he suffered injuries to his hip, back, knee, elbows and ankles.

The plaintiff holds American Liberty Hospitality Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition and failed to warn of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and all other relief that are lawful and equitable. He is represented by Alfred Benoit of Benoit Law PLLC in Houston.
