HOUSTON – Harris County is seeking damages from a La Port man it alleges drove while intoxicated and damaged its property.
Harris County, Texas filed a complaint on April 20 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Ramon Mejia alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 3, 2016, Mejia, who was traveling westbound at the entrance ramp of the 6800 block of Sam Houston Parkway, lost traction when he failed to drive in a single marked lane. The suit states Mejia crashed into a jersey barrier and displaced two barrier sections.
The plaintiff holds Mejia responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout, made an unsafe lane change and operated the vehicle while intoxicated.
The plaintiff seeks actual damages in the amount of $2001.50, pre- and post-judgment interest at the maximum amount allowed by law, taxable court costs, attorneys' fees and all other relief to which it is entitled.
