HOUSTON – A local woman accuses LA Fitness of appropriating her debit card without her permission.

In a lawsuit filed on May 16 in the Harris County 61st District Court, Gloria Torres explains that she provided the card to help defray the cost of her son’s yearly paid-in-full membership with the defendant.

Torres asserts the card was intended to only be used for the membership fee, but the business tacked on many recurring charges totaling $7,040.50.

LA Fitness allegedly did not refund or reimburse the complainant despite its awareness of the charges.

The suit seeks the return of the disputed funds to Torres.

She is represented by Christian G. Sotomayor and Andrew F. Sullo of the law firm Sullo & Sullo, LLP in Houston.
