Snappy's Quick Stop customer alleges leaky ice machine caused fall

Slip02

BEAUMONT – A Beaumont woman alleges she fell at a China store due to a leaking ice machine.

Tracy Wright filed a complaint on May 10 in the Jefferson County District Court against Snappy's Quick Stop Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 30, 2016, she was injured while shopping at the defendant's store on Highway 90 when she fell because of water on the floor that was leaking from an ice machine. She alleges there were no warning signs or mats in or around the area.

The plaintiff holds Snappy's Quick Stop Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to exercise ordinary care to reduce or eliminate the risk or warn invitees of it.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief in an amount of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million. She is represented by Jonathan C. Juhan of J.J. Bragg in Beaumont.
