Individuals alleges USPS employee failed to yield at stop sign, caused crash

Car accident 01

HOUSTON – Four individuals are seeking damages from a federal agency over alleged injuries sustained in an auto accident in Harris County.

Juan Govea, Beatriz Hernandez-Cruz and minors L.G. and D.G. filed a complaint on May 23 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against United States Postal Service alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on March 25, 2017, the plaintiffs suffered personal injuries and property damage when defendant's employee Tamica Edwards struck their vehicle at the intersection of Airline Drive and Frels Lane in Harris County. They allege they sustained injuries that resulted in physical and mental pain, lost earnings, disfigurement, medical expenses and loss of household service.

The plaintiffs hold United States Postal Service responsible because the Edwards allegedly failed to yield to the right-of-way at a stop sign.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek actual damages between $100,000 and $200,000, prejudgment interest, costs and all other relief as the court deems appropriate. They are represented by David K. Mestemaker, Codi D. Kraus, Norman L. Straub and Jonathon B. Zumwalt of Mestemaker & Straub in Houston.
