HOUSTON – A Houston property owner claims that a contractor hired to resurface tile floors provided insufficient and destructive services.
Gordon Tayloe filed a complaint on May 23 in the Harris County District Court against Dirt Free Carpet citing the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices - Consumer Protection Act, breach of contract, common law fraud and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 29, he retained the defendant to resurface the tile floors at his residence. The plaintiff alleges that as a result of defendant's inadequate renovation, he and his family were unable to move back to their home. He alleges he also incurred additional costs of approximately $4,000 to repair the flooring.
The plaintiff holds Dirt Free Carpet responsible because the defendant allegedly caused damage to the home and failed to use ordinary care while working on the project.
The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of $100,000 or less and all other and further relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by Jason Oxner, Boe Bowen and Arpita Baweja of The Bowen Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
