HOUSTON – A Montgomery County man alleges he was terminated by his employer based on his perceived disability after sustaining a bullet wound to his shoulder.
Justin Stiles filed a complaint on May 30 in the Harris County District Court against One Global Telecom Inc. alleging violation of the Texas Labor Code and the American with Disabilities Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant in October 2017 as an on-site locator and later suffered a bullet wound to his right shoulder while at the University of Houston-Downtown.
He alleges that he was informed through his brother a short time later that the defendant had terminated him before he was able to request reasonable workplace accommodations.
The plaintiff holds One Global Telecom Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated against him in connection with the conditions and terms of his employment because of his disability.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he is justly entitled. He is represented by Niles J. Sneed and Brittany Mitchell of Sneed Mitchell LLP in Houston.
