HOUSTON – A local woman claims in a state district lawsuit that a night out at a German restaurant with her family last year was ruined by a defective piece of furniture.

Traci Guthrie filed the suit against King’s Biergarten, LLC in the Harris County 190th District Court on June 4, stating a swinging chair gave out beneath her and caused her to fall.

Guthrie, her husband, and their two children dined at King’s BierHaus to celebrate the couple’s wedding anniversary at the time of the subject incident on May 10, 2017.

According to the original petition, the plaintiff was already on the group when “the supporting wooden beam, chain, and metal fixtures which were attached to the swinging chair” collapsed on top of her.

The chair’s purported manufacturers, Course Construction Group, LLC and HM Steel Fab, LLC, join King’s as co-defendants.

Consequently, Guthrie seeks unspecified monetary damages.

She is represented by Muhammad S. Aziz of the law firm Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz in Houston.
