GALVESTON – Damages are sought from a Texas City meat market after a shopper was allegedly injured in a fall on the property.

Miguel Betancourt filed a complaint on June 11 in the Galveston County District Court against La Michoacana Meat Market Inc. and OS Meat Market LTD alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 17, he was injured when he slipped on water only feet away from defendants' front door. He alleges he suffered injuries resulting in pain and mental anguish, lost wages, disfigurement and medical expenses as a result.

The plaintiff holds La Michoacana Meat Market Inc. and OS Meat Market LTD responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn of the water at the entrance of the store.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000 and such other relief to which he is justly entitled. He is represented by Scott R. Frase and Kraig L. Rushing and Barrett W. Beck of Bronston Legal PC in Houston.
