HOUSTON – A Harris County woman alleges she is unable to walk after a surgery.
Cynthia Kennedy filed a complaint on June 13 in the Harris County District Court against Dare Adewumi MD, Cranial Brawn LLC and The Greater Houston Neurosurgery Center PA alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 2, 2017, she underwent spinal stimulator placement performed by defendant Adewumi. She alleges after the surgery, she experienced numbness in both hands, an inability to use her hands and feet and she is unable to walk.
The plaintiff holds Adewumi, Cranial Brawn LLC and The Greater Houston Neurosurgery Center PA responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to exercise the degree of care, skill and knowledge required of reasonably prudent health care providers by failing to properly perform surgery and subsequent evaluations and by failing to perform timely revision surgery.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary damages of more than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by Paula Elliott Estefan and J. Wayne Little of Elliott & Little in Conroe.
