HOUSTON – A Massachusetts resident alleges a rug at a Cedar Park department store caused her to fall.

Charlotte Hollis filed a complaint on June 20 in the Harris County District Court against Specialty Retailers Inc. alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 26, 2017, she suffered severe and debilitating injuries when she slipped and fell at defendant's Beall's department store in Cedar Park. The suit states she fell over the corner of a large entrance rug that was propped up against the doorway. She alleges she severely injured her lower extremities, including her knees, hips and feet as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds Specialty Retailers Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to use reasonable care to reduce or eliminate an unreasonable risk of harm.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages suffered and legal fees, plus interest, costs of court and such other and further relief as may be deemed just and proper. She is represented by Bob Wynne of The Wynne Firm PC in Houston.
